On July 13, 2017, a Framework Agreement on cooperation, investments and technology transfer between UAB Elsis TS and the INTRACOM Defense Electronics (IDE), the Greek defense company, was signed in Kaunas. Within this agreement, an investment project will be implemented, which will contribute to the development of Lithuanian Armed Forces capabilities.
First contacts were established in 2015, when ELSIS TS signed a long-term cooperation agreement with the Hellenic defense company IDE (INTRACOM Defense Electronics), which develops and produces defense systems and equipment for Greece and other NATO member-states.
Based on this agreement, IDE transferred to ELSIS TS technical know-how, equipment, and personnel training to install IDE products on armored transport vehicles and to produce installation sets in Lithuania. This year ELSIS TS has produced the first batch of installation equipment which will be used by Lithuania’s Armed Forces.
Based on the existing Cooperation Agreement between IDE and ELSIS TS, on July 13, 2017, at ELSIS TS premises, located in Kaunas, Taikos av. 106b, IDE presented a new investment project in Lithuania and signed a Framework Agreement with ELSIS TS. In accordance with this Agreement, ELSIS TS will receive special testing and diagnostic industrial equipment for the WiSPR vehicular intercommunications system and the related know-how transfer. ELSIS TS technical personnel will be trained to conduct warranty and post-warranty maintenance and support for the WiSPR systems during their entire operational life cycle in the Lithuanian Defense Forces.
Mr. Tomas Vrubliauskas, CEO of ELSIS TS, stated: This Support Agreement and IDE’s investment project are very important for the enhancement of Lithuanian Defense industrial capabilities, as well as for the efficient logistic support towards the Lithuanian Armed Forces. Such projects contribute positively as a Return of Investment to the Lithuanian state’s defense expenditure and to the development of the Lithuanian Defense Industry.
In the frame of this event, Dr. George Troullinos, CEO of IDE, stated: ELSIS TS is a valued and reliable partner in Lithuania. Through our cooperation, we will jointly implement our mission, which is to provide to the Lithuanian Armed Forces adequate and quality oriented support for IDE‘s fielded systems.
The following persons attended the event: Director General of the Armament and Investment Directorate of the Greek Ministry of Defense Vice-admiral Kyriakos Kyriakidis, Vice-minister of Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense Giedrimas Jeglinskas, Director of the National Defense Industry Association Rimvydas Matuzonis, Chief officers of INTRACOM Defense Electronics, ELSIS and ELSIS TS and other guests.
