Project description:Modernization of meteorological observation systems in Vilnius and Palanga airports will enable a more accurate evaluation of weather conditions for the routes above the Lithuanian airspace, making of forecasts of local meteorological conditions for a particular flight, continuous observation of meteorological conditions in the airport area, expeditious information of aviation consumer, as well as exchange of available information with other services. Implementation of the project will enable to increase the flight safety, optimize and improve the work of overground services, as well as work out more accurate and more efficient flight plans.
For the pilots avoid risky phenomena, it is highly important to predict the changes in weather conditions. For example, unexpected entering continuous rain may block the opening of the air pressure receiver, thereby forming rather high electrical potentials and icing up the aircraft. Implementation of the project will enable the flight control centers, aircraft pilots, weathermen, etc. to present more reliable, more exhaustive, and more expeditious meteorological information, enabling to ensure higher safety of the flights.
